Conspiracy theories are an easy mode for people to view the world. The world is complex with hard problems that aren’t easily solved. A worldview of all of these problems being caused by some shadow group is easier to compartmentalize into if we stop (a) then (b) would be solved.

Words cannot describe the loathing I have for people who tell people worried about their food security becoming untenable in the next week “just plant a garden.”
