I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: the average Democrat in Congress is convinced that if they can wait this administration out, things will magically go back to 2013 as soon as Trump is out of office. They do not see the need for any substantive resistance, and are afraid to engage in it.

There's a reason that even the House Oversight Democrats' tweet about the emails badly understates how incriminating they are. They want to make Trump look bad, but not at the cost of having to *do* anything about it.

I worry that a desire to maintain the veneer of normalcy will prevent Democrats from responding to this as strongly as they should. They are terrified of it ever becoming clear to the voting public how bad things are, because that would mean confronting the massive structural problems
