The old Microsoft playbook of get the businesses via the consumer backdoor isn’t one that is going to pan out the way they think.

Then there's all those pension funds on both sides of the Atlantic with investments in the 'Magnificent Seven' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Tec...

And let's not even get into the dependence that the UK and many European governments have on these companies for their general day to day operations. That AWS went down for a day the other week and effected so many services...

Of those ten companies, eight are US HQ'd. Broadly, there is an interdependence between the chip makers, compute providers and 'AI' developers that is likely to create a domino effect. The US economy is precariously positioned should this fail.

But is it too big to fail?

Exactly. And scientists, engineers, artists, writers, musicians, film producers, tv producers, all the underpaid workers in developing countries who have reviewed (often horrific) images and text for the models, the climate...

Not a word I use often, but it's one of the few that fits, it's sinful.

By market cap (rather than I dunno revenue or employee size where they mostly don’t feature) of the top ten largest global companies, nine are either dependent on or have a significant interest in AI. 9/10! The one that doesn’t, Saudi Aramco: oil companiesmarketcap.com

Even with the largest denomination of notes a skip wouldn’t be big enough.

Open AI alone has it lost a reported $13.5 billion in the first half of 2025; and in the last quarter, potentially lost another $12 billion.

Then there’s all the other losses by the other tech and chip giants.

So refreshing to see such joy and enthusiasm and who obviously wants to deliver a great experience for customers.

The first thing probably to look at though is the relationship between central and local government and who is responsible, accountable etc. for what and the powers that are associated with those responsibilities. Without looking at that seriously any alternative local tax mechanism will also fail.

Cue local council planning visit mid-episode with devastating news that requires a complete re-design and oodles more cash.

"We were undecided on whether to put in a spiral staircase. On one hand, it's a space saver and fits with the building, on the other, how would we get any furniture up?"

It's fraught. Simple example, there are many one bed, city central flats in band E just because of when (post the 1990s) they were built.

So glam.
Although, you'd either have to like darkness or hope that the roof can support a lot of glass.

I love how most of the photos are of the exterior from a dron rather than interior. The garden looks huge.
