Senator @maziehirono.bsky.social has made it a habit for years to ask this question of every nominee - man or woman - at their confirmation hearing. When Hirono, who sits on the Senate Armed Svcs Committee, asks this question of DOD Secy nominee Peter Hegseth, the answer will be disqualifying.

Repubs in the Senate & House, just know that once you cross the rubicon of politicizing aid to victims of natural disasters, that is a road that you don’t want to go down. Especially since your states seem to have a lot more of them, & you tend to lose your majorities quickly.

I’m 69 years old. I’m not going to Washington for the protests. That’s a job for a younger generation, but I’m not sure which generation will pick up the banner. Out country is growing into lethargy. Trump won the election with just one third of eligible voters. Voter turnout was just 64%. Pathetic.
