Angie Zelter in particular was very influential to the course. Listening to her global accomplishments was an unforgettable part of the @sussex.ac.uk Law LLB as a whole.

This short piece concerns the definition of violence in the public order offences and the justifications thereof. It was written for the undergraduate Protest Law Module, where I had the opportunity to speak with many figures that make a difference to protest in the UK.

New laws, improved education on disability and more effective policing are all needed to combat the epidemic of hatred in this country. People like Sean lose the will to fight every day; as a country, we must act before we lose ourselves to injustice and cruelty. (4/4)

This is evidently insufficient. Disability hate crime, like transgender hate crime, is not equal with other protected characteristics such as race and religion. Those characteristics are also protected under the Public Order Act 1986 and the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, but not disability. (3/4)

...should not be allowed to exist in the modern day. Current legislation, as Sean rightly points out, supposedly protects disabled people from discrimination. The Equality Act 2010 Section 15 provides that it is unlawful to treat someone unfavourably due to their disability. (2/4)
