The inferences is that she also can't and has dismissed it completely.

The sign of minus is truly lit as the limit approaches zero. The solution to the rate of change calls for aid.

Yep. Even the long wait times aren't a total disaster. It's prioritised by need. It's frustrating, but not life threatening.

And if you pay for private insurance (couple hundred a month, not thousands), you don't have those wait times.

I'm reading this from Australia, so it's a bit blurry but all I can see is "we don't want to insure you".

It makes sense that seasons are local. I mean, the whole world (even the whole hemisphere) doesn't have the same effects as we go through the year.

Local seasons describe what happens. And that's what matters whether you're hunter-gathering or farming!

Yep. 1st past the post sounds good, but is inherently undemocratic in practice.
November 9, 2025 at 11:22 PM
Yep. The senate having equal representation by state isn't really the problem. Preferential voting is probably the biggest boost to real democracy. That, and having elections run by a non-partisan commission and candidates funded by taxpayers, not billionaires.

I think you'd find Nichols pushing back on that. He insists that it be described as "authoritarian" instead, hence the argument.

The most correct description: "We are experiencing a day that ends in y"

Now, with this distinction in place, we are much better equipped to understand what is happening.

Pedantry is the last line of defense for a failing argument.

It's the academic equivalent of a lawyer not having facts and law, and pounding the table instead.

Experts can argue with each other about such things, but lay people should not be lectured to about using words that experts are using.
November 9, 2025 at 2:25 AM
I'm sure they have. And there's no reason anyone should be told not to use a word that a recognised expert is comfortable using.
November 8, 2025 at 2:58 PM
All you're saying is that *some* experts don't use this word. But some do.

The point is, nobody should be browbeaten for using a word that at least some experts are comfortable employing.

And he literally wrote the book.
