Great news! I've been secured as a last minute presenter for this year's Hamvention. My forum topic. Five Years of POTA, what I've learned will be on Friday May 16, at 10:25am in Room 4. The talk is an introspective look at why I love Parks on the air and my secrets on how to have more fun with it.

In my effort to eke out whatever efficiency I can with our trailer’s solar system, I replaced the 12v 200 watt panel with a 24v 250 watt panel. I’m hoping the controller will be able to capture more energy during the fringes times like dusk or dawn or when the panel is partially shaded.

Christine said we haven’t gone out to a park together for a long time. So we took a short trip to Merrill, WI for some lunch, shopping, and activating US-4272 Bill Cross Wildlife Area. The bands were packed with contesters so I set my FT-817 to 15 meter FT8. 11 in the log at the park.

My 30 year old dryer stopped making heat, so I did what any other sensible person would do. I fixed it. New thermostats and a heating element and we are good to go.

The Wisconsin QSO party starts at 1800z on March 9. Listen for Dave and I as we go on the air as K9M as a multi-op, multi-transmitter mobile operation. We’ll be in four counties and three different parks on the air entities. Contest runs until 0100z. I hope to get you in the log. ~Kb9VBR

With the high cost of eggs, I like that Festival Foods had a local option that is not only price competitive but also most likely superior in quality. I’m looking forward to cracking a few this weekend.

Sunny skies and 20 degrees and the POTA Performer performed flawlessly today, despite me forgetting my antenna analyzer at home. 220 contacts in the log at US-10054, Plover River State Fish and Wildlife area, which is also on US-4238 Ice Age National Scenic Trail.
