Probably the most joyous photo of two old friends drinking wine and making each other laugh through music 🥰

Hear me out. Who was the first dude on the podium at the Euros final there? Was it Tom Cruise in a Mission: Impossible mask? And if you’re saying no, are you sure? The face, the eyes, and the hands don’t match the face.

Great day and a bit with Katrina and Ranbir in Huddersfield for the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Engagement and Research Network meeting. Lots of networking, and lots of good ideas to be working on from an East Midlands perspective! 🤓

What an absolutely brilliant concert with Stamford Chamber Orchestra! Mozart narrated a ‘children’s guide’ piece written specially for us by John Sturt, complete with kiddo violins & singers. Jupiter symphony was genuinely one of the best things I’ve played in a while - well done everyone!

ITV commentary once again is totally unhinged - there’s clearly a bet on as to who can say the word “wardrobe” the most. “He is a nicely built, nicely aging French wardrobe”. Mad. Also strong choice from Twickenham to choose ‘Chumbaleze’ for their hanging around music. #EngFra #SixNations

Last Christmas concert of 2024 done! Huge thank you and well done to the Northern Musical Theatre Orchestra, chorus and soloists. And my pal gave me a cute wee hat for my flute!

Huge thank you to Lincoln Cathedral for hosting our ‘dust off your instrument’ Christmas Carol session with Lincoln Symphony Orchestra today! We were expecting 5 people and a dog, but 77 members of the local community came to play! Sorry for my terrible conducting, well done all, Merry Christmas!

Ended up in the front row on tonight’s Question Time. Tried really hard to control my face when the woman beside me (who’d told me before hand she was there to see Farrage because she’d voted Reform) said she didn’t believe in migrants seeking asylum. You can judge whether I succeeded.

We’re so lucky to have had another wonderful, inspiring evening with NASA astronaut, Mike Foale. Huge thanks to Chris from ISSET, the Lincoln Pint of Science team and College events team who made this another slick, successful event. Hanging out with astronauts will never get old! 🥰🚀🧑‍🚀

Here’s a new(ish) paper on face matching comparing ability with familiar and unfamiliar human faces and monkey faces. We conclude that, at least when the images shows the same person/monkey, unfamiliar people may as well be another species. Plus it features the best figure caption ever (L/R 😂)
