Cyno’s eyes narrow. “He said it’s about Azar.”
That gives Al-Haitham pause. Azar has been locked up for a year now, though; there is no need for further evidence against him. He opens his mouth to reply, but then-
“Please, let’s hear what he has to say.”
Al-Haitham deflates, just a little bit. He can’t argue with that voice.
He glances to his left, where the voice sounded from, and is unsurprised to see Nahida approaching, bare feet bouncing across the street. Patches of grass curl up where she steps.
“Lord Kusanali,” Cyno greets, bowing his head respectfully.
The Lord of Dendro, a being of infinite wisdom and centuries of life, stands just tall enough that she could touch Al-Haitham’s elbow if she stood on her tiptoes. She does not reach for him, though; she merely looks up at him with her wide, green eyes, and Al-Haitham knows he would bend the knee for whatever she desires.
(Such is the power of knowledge, and his deference to it.)

"We should," Cyno agrees. "I'll be sure to bring a different deck for some variety."
Kaveh sighs at that. "You don't have to."

Al-Haitham does not particularly want to come out just to play cards with this group, but - Kaveh shifts his attention back to him then expectantly. What? Does he want him to chime in and say something?
He does not. Instead, he says, "See ya," and takes his leave, turning on his heel to head outside. Tighnari calls out a a farewell, but Kaveh doesn't, and it takes more than a bit of willpower not to turn around and see if he reacted at all to his abrupt departure.
Al-Haitham gets in the car outside, and the rest of the night proceeds without any issue, but Al-Haitham thinks, with no small amount of irritation, that things are snowballing out of proportion.

Xiao Peng was Chongyun's idol. An accomplished Liyuen flautist, he'd made waves whena recording of his university senior recital got into the public sphere - he'd played "The Glow from Guyun" on the Dihua flute, and woodwind professionals and classical enthusiasts alike had praised his performance. He'd gone on to tour Teyvat, gracing stages with his virtuosic talent, before taking a position in the Liyue Harbor orchestra. His first concert back in Liyue was this weekend - and tickets had all sold out before Chongyun could get his hands on one.

Xingqiu hummed, a playful lilt to the sound that curled upward in pitch at the end. "I *am* a son of the Feiyun Commerce Guild," he reminded him. "We have season tickets."

Chongyun watched with baited breath as Xingqiu slowly leaned closer and closer, until he could whisper again and have it be heard by only the two of them.

"*Premium* seats."

Chongyun felt his knees go weak.

"I need to sit down," he said shakily. He pulled away from Xingqiu, who laughed at his visceral reaction, and stumbled over to a nearby bench, where he practically collapsed. He put a hand--

chronically late for WIP Wednesdays as always!

Here's a haikaveh wip i've been working on for almost half a year. hopefully i can start to share it in march :>

"Do all artists find meaning at the literal bottom of a bottle?" the voice from before asks him. Kaveh means to roll his eyes and go back to admiring the pretty patterns of light on the table. "Kaveh."

He freezes. Ths colors on the table flicker again with the overhead lights. They don't lose their brilliance the longer he looks at them; they grow more intense. Blinding.

Slowly, he drags his eyes away from the table and stares across the space between himself and the person sitting at the other side.

Kaveh does not recognize the sound of that voice, the low timbre and tone. But he recognizes the coarseness of it - knows the way it shapes his name.
