I gave it a very minimal assist to get it back on a leaf so its wings could dry out, and it's all good. I was trying not to intervene - maybe it would have gotten there on it's own, but it looked so miserable.

Many yellow, white and black striped caterpillars amongst the green leaves and orange clustered flowers of butterfly weed, a type of milkweed native to much of the eastern United States.

A few years ago, I documented monarch caterpillar growth next to a penny. I shared it with kids at a pollinator library event I did today. But it's so cool so sharing here too!

I saw a black-crowned pitta sleeping in Sabah on a night walk. I thought I met a creature from a Seuss book.
