In 2017, a lawsuit uncovered emails from Monsanto that suggested its employees helped ghostwrite an influential paper that claimed to find no evidence the company’s widely used herbicide, Roundup, caused cancer.

Now, the paper has been retracted. https://scim.ag/4iG55KO

A few years ago i had the idea for an 8bit Tom Waits video game that's actually a full retrospective of his works and i still think about it a lot.

It starts off as a like a bluesy jazzy noir, then shifts to like a weird dreamlike quest across a country, then this whole section that's just like…

Unrestricted funding is a godsend.
The headline I feel like is that all the philanthropic donations from billionaires typically have a shitload of restrictions.

Mackenzie is like “you’re doing work to stop something horrible or to help something good? Cool. Here’s a few hundred million.” and the paper is like “wow… so novel”

It's a terrible headline, but the conclusion is that "harp seal predation remains an important factor that should be included in Atlantic cod stock assessments."
Are harp seals responsible for the stalled recovery of Atlantic cod? | “Our analysis revealed that harp seals consume a higher biomass of shared target species than caught by fisheries.”

Sure but harp seals are part of the ecosystem and naturally eat those fish? What are we doing here?
Are harp seals responsible for the stalled recovery of Atlantic cod?
Since Atlantic cod fisheries collapsed in the early 1990s, ecosystems have been less productive and have struggled to recover.

Crisps and cobblers are superior to all pies.

Also my sweet potatoes, which have a crispy brown sugar nutty topping is the bomb diggity
Ok this take is unhinged BUT I have my own version of this, which is that I actually hate pumpkin pie.
Apple pie is bad. This is not really debatable. So is key lime pie, while we’re on the topic. Pecan pie is the 🐐 tho.
