Iceland and Norway are deeply integrated into the EU’s internal market through the European Economic Area and the Schengen zone, yet formally outside the Union. Both have a history of EU candidacy. Both face a hostile Russia and in increasingly hostile US.

Calls from @europarl.europa.eu for trade measures against Norway for unsustainable fishing and poor cooperation. I wonder two things: what were the learnings from the 2013 sanctions against the Faroes (which were later dropped), and will the EU ultimately pursue this path at this particular time?
