Really happy to see one of the best darn advocates for her community be acknowledged tonight with members of the Flood Action Committee. @katieway.bsky.social is the real deal in informed, persuasive, grassroots organizing. We are lucky to have her pushing us all to do better on flooding in ALX.

Everything feels heavy but these women from my hometown make me laugh and remind me that not all heroes wear capes. #PiedmontRagingGrannies

Not letting this one go for a while.

Adding Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me to my rally cry playlist…
This photograph is dangerous. Women are dangerous.

That is the only possible explanation for why it and tens of thousands of other photos of women and minorities in the military are currently being deleted from federal government websites.

The sign peeps have spoken, giving my neighbor 10 days to take it down. Instead, she’s going to cover the fines but has started a fundraiser for Kamala’s campaign. With some proceeds also going to the John Lewis Foundation. #goodtrouble www.gofundme.com/f/support-a-...

How’s your Saturday going?

I’m calling it now, the Del Ray Halloween parade is going to feature a large number of cats/dogs dressed as candidates with their SS dressed kiddos flanking every side of the wagon.

Ok, all of my water resource SMEs, I need help. Let’s say a small group wanted to claim env. harm as a way to question a project, using the idea that a “reclaimed waterway” (see: four mile, see: dredged ) was in danger. Where does one begin to research the type of habitats around said waterway?

My poor child upon hearing College Game Day on tv downstairs this morning….”ummm how long until football season is over?” Oh sweet girl… this is the one area I question whose genetics you have. 🤣

Experienced the rudest behavior from the table next to us tonight. At Los Tios, no less. Clearly they didn’t want to be sat next to kids, which for once mine weren’t being super loud. But the 5yr old did have a bear in a chair beside her, impeding in their dog (which was inside the patio)

DMX Party Up (y’all gonna make me lose my mind) came on in the car this morning. And the chorus just hits different when you’re a parent. So relatable. The bridge, still not so much…

While others spend the week before school on amazing vacations, camp Waynick activities entail Daddy/Daughter trips to the hardware store. And while I love that my 5yr old is learning all about lag bolts and such, the rest of you may want to avoid DR Hardware for a hot second. 🤣

So grateful for all of you ACPS veterans who have taken me under your wing to guide me thorough this process. Y’all the real MVPs. 🏅

Our street lost a neighbor today.
We’re in shock, a beloved family is shattered, and a 9yr old traumatized after losing her father, but also finding him. If you’re the praying type, say a few for the family and another for our close-knit community. And hug your loved ones extra tight tonight. 💔

Have a way to receive emergency alerts overnight. Even if you aren’t impacted by flooding, you may need to be alerted to a possible tornado threat. Stay safe, friends.

Alx peeps: sand bag distribution happening today until 7pm! Hoping the next few days bring low, steady rain rates but always good to be prepared for the next big one. Big shout out to the crews in neighborhoods loading the bags!

Things you may only appreciate if you live in Alx: watching a campaign launch to see who falls in line while the candidate blissfully believes their support will help. Meanwhile everyone else reaches for 🍿 to see what new deranged things these people will spew in the coming weeks.

Bluesky moms!!! I can’t begin to describe how amazing this event was last year. It’s where I started my “Year of Yes” journey and what a year it’s been! Please join us: 1. Because you’ll have a great time and 2. Because I’m terrified of public speaking and need some friendly faces in the crowd!
🌸 Join me on Saturday, June 29 for a fun day of health, beauty, and well-being! 🌸

Hey @praveenkathpal.bsky.social I think there’s something broken in the matrix. I left home and walked laps around the neighborhood and for the first time, we didn’t bump into each other!

This will come as no surprise to anyone here, but I sincerely can’t thank Kirk enough for the support he has brought to the #stormwater discussion. He cares, checks in regularly on progress, and reaches out for feedback when stormwater is on the docket. Thank you for helping #DrainALX, Kirk!!
You run into some awesome people when canvassing in Alexandria! @katieway.bsky.social
