NEW: U.S. private equity firm AE Industrial has acquired Israeli spyware maker Paragon, which has been making inroads in the U.S. market, for ~$500 million.

The acquisition shows the spyware market is in flux after all the scandals involving NSO Group.

NEW: Serbian authorities used Cellebrite to unlock the phones of a journalist and an activist, and then installed spyware on the devices.

This shows that sometimes physical access to target's devices is easier and cheaper than using spyware like NSO's.
