I like to weave and make things.

A big sigh of relief. I just finished up my largest handwoven blanket to date, coming in at a finished size of 71”x 102”. Maybe not the most complex structure, but definitely the my most challenging for me so far. Woven double-width in a hand-dyed warp.

I’ll love sampling and messing around with ideas—with no pressure for perfection or a lovely finished item.

This afternoon I got to email a few pictures to the kind man I bought this loom from a few months ago. It was Catherine’s, his late wife, and he was looking forward to seeing it back in action and setup in its new home. All looms has a story. 💗

Maybe I just see weaving patterns everywhere, but I couldn’t help but to notice that my boot print in the snow looks like what I’m weaving this afternoon.

Some student’s work from the class I taught this weekend. Everyone dressed their looms on Saturday and went home with a completed scarf by Sunday afternoon. It was a bit of a marathon, but everyone did a fantastic job and were very focused.

The scarf that was being woven yesterday. I designed it for newer weavers to get a taste of weaving overshot without getting overwhelmed by the slower nature of two-shuttle weaving. Could have used a pressing before taking pictures.

This morning I’ve been sitting by this sunny window weaving a class sample for an upcoming beginner weaving workshop. I’m sure this winter cactus never imagined that it would be used as a draft holder.

I’m at the little loom in the living room weaving a new class sample while Raz is at the computer just through the door playing a game and we are listening to a Radiolab together. Cozy.

This cutting mat was just delivered from Joann with quite possibly the perfect amount of packaging. A rare thing indeed. Just the mat slid into a flattened box with the edges taped.

I heard this snippet on the local NPR station this evening and then had to look up the transcript to make sure I didn’t mishear the words of a difference attorney for two of the eleven CT people who just received pardons.

They gave her the mic and she took it.

Chunky core-spun handwoven wool rugs filling up the loom. It’s nearly time to cut these off and then fill it back up again. Sabine doesn’t look very impressed.

I’m getting so close to finishing my first crocheted thing—a blanket made entirely from loom waste, nearly empty cones of yarn, and weft bits and bobs left over from weaving. It’s been over a year in the making.
