You know me from somewhere.

When I signed up for BlueSky I was tired of writing bios for every new platform, so I didn't. In case you don't know who I am:
Author. Vegan. Ex-pat. Hiker. Dog lover.
Former: Dem operative. New Mexican. Virginian. Mil-spouse. Blogger.
I like pretty flowers.
Why am I not surprised to see Bill Richardson's name here?
The Prospect has obtained through a state FOIA request thousands of pages of documents related to a little-known investigation of Jeffrey Epstein by the New Mexico attorney general in 2019, related to his 8,000-acre Zorro Ranch near Stanley, NM that he bought from a former governor.
We Obtained Thousands of New Epstein Documents
The mostly redacted documents pertain to a New Mexico attorney general investigation that was launched in 2019 but never led to criminal charges.

I thought a lot of the criticism of Shapiro was unjustified but now I'm convinced. What is he thinking?? Kirk wasn't an elected official, he was a young firebrand with racist and misogynistic views who does not deserve such respect.

Every single “conservative” accusation about campus speech, viewpoint diversity, & the marketplace of ideas was a confession.
Over the decades I have spoken at all of the service academies and War Colleges. They've all known I was "a critic" of many policies

This is a really, really ominous development

The Colorado River is going to run dry if we don’t act now.

We came together to create Colorado’s first Water Plan when I was governor. We need to work together once again to ensure our kids and grandkids can inherit a river that continues to support our way of life in the West.

It’s actually even worse than that: the original post did not invent it either. It was copied from Reddit and the user has an extensive history of AI and Reddit generated content.

1. An anon invents a story about Big Balls that’s not in the police report or in the Daily Beast piece he links to.

2. The post goes viral because it tells a story a lot of people want to hear.

3. A Columbia Law School lecturer with 10K followers copies the original BS post.

Misinfo is bad!

The account that made this viral post uses a AI-generated stock photo as their profile picture, and the main claim that Big Balls "was harassing and trying to pick up the 15-year-old girl" is not in the article.

We are not immune from disinformation.

Loved Cornwall, but the saddest thing when we drove back into England, were the tatty, Temu St George's flags on some motorway bridges, like Farage's used wank rags, and the red spray-painted bed sheet that said 'Vote Reform!!!' like it had been done by a 10-year-old. Britain is better than them.

I remember a Beeb producer phoning me
'What do you think about [] again remind me?'
'[]'
'OK sorry, I forgot we already have someone who thinks that'

I mean I can understand the thought process but
It says so much about the state of the BBC that they even found themselves in this situation in the first place.
Call from a producer this morning:

Zoe please help - we thought the panel on our show was balanced, but it turns out they’re both pro-mass detention camps for asylum seekers. Would you come on to be the anti-detention camp voice?

We are in a really bad place, friends, I am telling you.

Same rules here in the UK, but we have no RFK so why is that?
Many people unfortunately don’t seem to be aware that in May, Prasad and Makary announced that the FDA was changing guidance for COVID19 vaccines to only those aged 65+ or those with a health condition that puts them at risk for severe COVID19.

This is the impact of installing RFK Jr. at HHS.

trump is hard to understand because normally — absent the enormous wealth and protection he was brought up in — someone like trump spends basically his entire life in prison.
I think trump does lie on instinct but I also think he genuinely does not have the concept of lie and truth in his brain. It’s a very hard thing to imagine for normal people but someone like him genuinely does not process the world the same way

My latest watch: Rabbit Hole, with Kiefer Sutherland. An absolute riot, with surprises all along the way. Just when you think you know what's happening, a new twist arrives. I literally shouted in joy at the last one. It's on ITV here in the UK, no idea how to find it in the US. But worth searching!
