For some reason, it doesn’t surprise me that a people who used knots in quipus as an accounting system would use a series of holes for a similar purpose.

You laugh, but when I was in the military, I was transferred to Germany right before Christmas one year. I was the only person in temporary housing on Christmas. The housekeepers felt bad for me and brought me a little Christmas tree.
