The spooky season is upon us! For me that's every year, but for many it's in the month of October. I actually have ghosts hanging on my porch throughout the year. Once I thought about, for Christmas decorations, I would put an old man in pajamas surrounded by the ghosts already on my porch. Charles Dickens eat your heart out! For Imorata's update, the cover art is almost complete! When that's finished I'll be sending the novel to Kirkus for a much needed review as well as alert my formatter to get the pages ready for publication.

The woman’s breath was soft and ragged as she crouched against the Biography Section and closed her eyes. Despite the cold of the library’s air conditioning, rivulets of sweat dripped down her back, soaking through her sweater. She had slipped away from the Fiction Section when he stopped to drink at the fountain, and fled through the shelves, stacked heavenward with old books. No other patrons meandered from aisle to aisle; the library had been shut down for the night and she was locked inside. Why did she accept the bet again?

February 2, 1925 - Nome, Alaska The syringe plunged amber liquid into the frail girl’s arm as she wheezed in bed. Their task done, the callow apprentice and experienced master left the sick ward with their husky. As they stood in the shadows of quiet homes, the older man flashed a blank card toward the dog, who barked and jumped inside. The card’s face now showing a team of huskies pulling a sled. "Can I pull from the Deck, Mal?" Sebastien eyed the tarot cards. "This isn't the time, Seb." He pulled a card; the spaceship.

Through the dusty panes of Wind and Ice Instruments, Mira wiped circles clean with her sleeve, watching as the morning sun painted the village in hues of gold. She loved this quiet time before customers arrived, when she could polish the instruments and listen to their whispered songs. Master Sigurd said each one had its own voice, even before being played, and she was starting to hear them too. The bell above the shop door chimed, startling her from her reverie. A tall woman in travel-worn clothes entered, her presence immediately filling the small shop.

The sunlit path to the cottage was stitched with shadows, wild brambles heavy with starlike blossoms brushing against Emory’s boots. The census-taker paused at the gate—an ordinary man, in a land where magic was as old as the stones themselves. He was tall, with a shock of dark hair and a crisp linen shirt, sleeves rolled up for practicality, and a battered clipboard tucked under one arm. The golden insignia of King Halric’s Doombook caught a stray sunbeam, throwing a shard of light across the path. Emory straightened his sleeves, brushed a leaf from his shoulder, and rapped on the weathered door.

I'm so happy to say my cover artist plans to start on the cover of IMORATA in September. I'm so excited. This is my first time hiring someone to make a cover for any of my books. I know I won't reveal the cover until it is time, but I will still keep updating everyone. As for what I've been working on, I'm rewriting book 2 so it will not bend or break the concrete rules placed in book one. So much as changed since I first penned the second book.

Three shapes solidified from the twilight clinging to the thorny walls, blocking the narrow passage. They smelled rank, aggressive, and unwelcome even in this wild place, slicing through the damp earth and crushed leaf smell Rowantail usually found groovy. They looked twitchy, out of place amidst the razor-sharp embrace of the briars; this wasn't their hunting ground, too treacherous, too tight. The lead tom, rust-colored and scarred, fixed Shadowflower with a possessive glare that made Rowantail’s usually placid fur prickle. “End of the line, traitor.” Bloodscar’s voice was a low growl.

I wanted to let you all know about my business cards. They came in Friday, and I absolutely adore them. They also feel wonderful. I got the Soft Touch premium card from Vista Print. Overall, I love how they came out. There are some edits I will do when I reorder them. Definitely, I'm going to increase the font size on the backside of the card where my information is found. I will adjust how the publishing company logo looks in different positions to see which I prefer. I will probably change the Raven And Scythe to Raven & Scythe Publishing. These are very minor edits, but let me know what you think! I'm super excited.

Happy Friday! I'm spacing my news out so I have a bit more to write, I'll confess this. Next, I'll be trying to show updates of my work through pictures or uploading drafts. I don't know which. However, I did want to let everyone know that I have a cover artist for my Paranormal/Horror Romance novel titled IMORATA. She is going to start on the cover once she's finished her other projects in around two months. I'm extremely excited. When she begins working on the cover I'll announce who is my artist and give a link to her website.

Due to much of my researched, I've learned it is better to establish a publishing company instead of your name as a the publisher of your novels. Therefore, I've created a Publishing logo, and placed an order on Vista Print to make business cards. The back of the cards contain my author info. I'm pretty excited about this. Since I live in Baltimore and the characters in my books are Death Walkers (aka grim reapers) I felt this logo and publishing name suited my books going forward. The Death Walker series is a planned 25 book series with possible spin-off books.
