Insurance companies ought to look at how much more they will pay later for preventable illnesses if they don’t cover vaccinations.
The ACA mandates that all health insurance plans must cover all vaccines recommended by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

So what happens when they're no longer recommended is they're no longer required to be covered.

Other rules elsewhere are also tied to ACIP.
ACIP, CDC, and Insurance Coverage of Vaccines in the United States | KFF
This brief provides an overview of vaccine coverage requirements by payer or program, as they relate to ACIP and the CDC.

since we're doing USPS discourse again, a reminder of what Dems should be saying
"the USPS is a miracle. it's in the constitution. for the price of a single stamp you can send a letter across the country, from Hawaii to Maine. Trump is trying to take that away from you. He's attacking Christmas cards and wedding invitations. It's un-American and it has to stop."

So yeah, if you're represented by a Republican in a district that was carried by less than 20 points, tomorrow would be a good day to call and demand that the ACA subsidies continue.
The good news is Republicans in Congress are shitting their pants right about now

Great essay by @sorayachemaly.bsky.social. Reminds me of when I was a Co-EP on a popular TV show and was asked to rewrite another writer's script over the weekend. I turned it in to the EP on Sunday night and the next morning the EP stopped me. "Great work," he said. "But I'm gonna tell Dave... 1/

Why the white tailed tropic bird is my current favorite.
White tailed tropic birds because they nest on volcanic crater walls and fly next to active eruptions. I see them all the time in Kilauea crater and they always amaze me.

It's a dark time for artists. Many are struggling!

It's easy to buy gifts online. When you buy from *artists*, you're supporting working people, instead of making rich jerks richer.

This fall, send your present $$ to an artist's shop!

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

This is a good tactic. Anyone can call their senator and deliver this particular message.
On the one hand, no one's "caved" yet, as far as I can see? On the other hand, I just called my senators and told them I'll hold them responsible for any deal that doesn't fix the health insurance mess and address impoundment, whether they vote for it themselves or not
