@sarasheridan.bsky.social I meant to tell you sooner (there’s been a lot of LIFE things, sorry) but I read The Fair Botanists during our son’s October week (in the sun by the pomegranate trees below) and absolutely loved it. Edinburgh history and suffragette-seeds writ large and beautifully. 👏👏👏👏👏💐🫶

Fantastic seeing Ramallah-based Penny Johnson and Raja Shehadeh taking part in #AyeWrite #Glasgow just now, talking about their brilliant book #Forgotten: Exploring Palestine's Hidden Memorials and Lost Histories

Thank you Artcena, Institut Francais London, & @sacdparis.bsky.social - for making over 20 years of theatre translations of contemporary Francophone plays into English possible. So proud to see extracts of 2 of my recent translations, LUNE and LEVIATHAN, in there.
🎉 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Long ago I got Enda to lead a public playwriting w/shop @traversetheatre.bsky.social - he insisted I ran it with him & picked an image of Le Corbusier's zone d'habitation as a prompt for the writers to write lives in one (or several) of the flats. ARLINGTON felt the beautiful dark flip side of this.

Still revelling in The Divine Comedy at Glasgow Concert Hall yesterday night. #Magnificent

(Last saw them live at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh in 2004.)

A watercolour by a talented old school-friend. Love her use of Pina Bausch’s quote “es ist ja alles erst einmal nichts...es beginnt ganz klein und wird dan grosser” ✨

I don’t know this child, but I know they deserve to live in safety & with dignity. Mayan is one of the 2.38 million Palestinian children who have the right to a future.
Please sign up at letchildrenlive.com & share their name on social media to make sure every child is represented.

But oh for the guts of dancer Danni Perry 🔥💥🇸🇩

RIP Robert Wilson, visceral brilliant influence on my theatrical life.

Seeing Wilson’s production of Gertrude Stein’s DR FAUSTUS LIGHTS THE LIGHTS
@edintfest.bsky.social in 1993 (
@lyceumedinburgh.bsky.social )
) was the most electrifying theatre I’ve ever seen.

To this day it remains so.

Just been on holiday in northern Italy, and in verona went to A museum where I discovered this atypical de Chirico. Beautiful. We could hang it in the brutalist house (on loan) 🤷‍♀️🤗

Never forgotten seeing this @edintfest.bsky.social in 1996. Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal staging Gluck’s IPHIGENIA AUF TAURIS. The singers in the audience boxes (and chorus in the orchestra pit) as we watched the dancers interpreting those roles on stage. Mindblowingly brilliant.
