I’m so grateful to University of Michigan Press for making my book #OpenAccess! The book explores the new limitations on belonging that came with public celebrations of diversity in Germany, and the risk of making the value of life contingent on benefits to the nation.
INTERROGATING INTEGRATION by @katezambon.bsky.social is now available! This #OpenAccess title examines integration discourse through public debates and sporting events in Germany. Start reading here: doi.org/10.3998/mpub... #AcademicSky

This. No one has the time and resources to “do their own research” for all important issues. We need to move past responsibilization.
Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.
Finland has emerged as a global leader in countering “fake news”. Here's how they've done it

Traveling to the United States is now a global safety risk. Attending public events is a domestic safety risk. This risk may affect anyone, but it is not equally distributed. None of this is acceptable.

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

However we respond to this sort of news, it’s essential to keep in mind that there are *fantastic* scholars working at these institutions. What is happening to universities in Texas and elsewhere is heartbreaking.

This is what happens when men who see the rest of us as non-playable characters are allowed to ravage institutions built by democracy over decades. Unfathomable, totally unnecessary suffering. This documentary returns human scale to all their “NPCs.” #USAID

They largely want the studios & sports and don’t care about the news org. In fact, they would love it gone. Why? Because rich men, especially tech men, think they deserve no criticism and also need constant fluffing. They value a mirrortocracy over a meritocracy and welcome a mediocrity.

Reject the “male norm” and just say “UEFA Euro 2025”, as there is no other one, so gender qualifications are unnecessary!

Similarly, tag #EURO2025 rather than #WEURO2025
