Depressing read. I am lucky in my school so in my experience the biggest crisis is the utter bin fire in LA funding. I spent days fighting for funding for the new Yr 7s. In theory we need 6 LSAs, can sort of manage with 4. Have funding for 2. I could go on...and on schoolsweek.co.uk/burnt-out-an...

Well said, @tomrees.bsky.social speaking at @ascl-uk.bsky.social #ASCL2025: "I would like to see a world where we can retire the label of SEND".
Dead right. It's about giving the dignity of achievement to all young people: schoolsweek.co.uk/id-like-to-s...
'I'd like to see SEND label retired' says inclusion tsar
Tom Rees also spoke of problems with the current 'medicalised model' of SEND support

I am adding another suggestion to the list.
Don't book any meetings etc in the last 3 days of term. As our most vulnerable students get tired, you are going to be busy...
18 months into SENDCO and it's a great job. Interesting and super rewarding. It's also a pretty tough gig at times. I thought I'd do a festive thread of strategies to stay smiling. These are to manage workload and stress:

Oh my word. This is a notable defining moment amongst the many defining moments of the last month.
I spent a lot of 2016-2020 arguing that comparisons to fascism were silly because the US had an independent judiciary.
Here's the executive order just signed by Trump.

One of the defining features of fascism is that the discretionary power of the leader always prevails over the rule of law.

Strongly with this thread 👇
Sometimes you need just the right prompt to think about things the right way and Michael’s assembly has reminded me of one of mine and has crystallized what I think about making the curriculum more fun.

This was a wonderful book, extraordinary quality of writing. The characters and places (in 1950s America) really stay with you. A story of 4 people trying to find their way.
