Watching my FedEx tracking history for a package that was supposed to be delivered on Friday. It was in Chicago proper this morning and now is 2 hours southwest of the city. I live 5 min north of the city. Now it has no ETA delivery. Maybe I'll get it by Xmas. (The logistics are not logistics-ing).

The Billy Joel docuseries on HBO Max is incredible. I've been listening to his music nonstop for the past month (and the past 38 years). So damn good. Highly recommend the 2-part documentary if you haven't watched it. HBO is killing it with their docs this summer. (My Mom Jayne is also fantastic).

I got 2.5 hours of sleep last night because my anxiety was out of control, so I've been binging Home Improvement on Netflix since like 3am. I forgot how hilarious it is. Peak nostalgia. I miss shows doing bloopers as the outro. They're so good.

Just finished binging The Pitt over the last day and a half (I had yesterday off on PTO. I was very productive, clearly). It's so good. Cannot wait for season 2. Between "My Mom Jayne" and "The Pitt", it was totally worth the monthly subscription fee to get HBO Max.

If you send me a LinkedIn request, I accept, than you immediately start DM'ing me with why I should buy your services, I will block you so fast. (Also, bold of you to assume that I am anywhere near powerful enough to decide what an entire hospital system or university will use for software/LMS/etc.)

My 20th high school reunion was last night. Almost everyone looks the exact same as they did in high school. So bizarre (and super fun).

My crusade against bad pseudoscience continues. I just reported 4 "Functional Health" BS ads I saw on Facebook. Will not be supporting Mark Hyman or any of his made up nonsense and will actively try to rebuke it when I see it.

In response to RFK Jr., Pritzker signs first in nation executive order protecting autism data
The governor's office said the executive order is in response to rising concerns about efforts to create federal autism registries or databases without legal safeguards or accountability.

Unpopular opinion: Posts on Linkedin where every other word is a hashtag are annoying and hard to read. Or maybe my brain just can't read it. The combo of the hashtag in the middle of the sentence + different colors does not compute. Also people pick the dumbest, most useless words to hashtag anyway

Gotta love using my lunch hour to file my taxes. Gross.
April 15, 2025 at 7:41 PM
You know what would be awesome? If instead of paying taxes we could instead reallocate the money to non-profit organizations or research groups that are being deprived of critical funding instead of the money contributing to the $92M military narcissistic birthday parade. Hard pass.

Now watching Green Day at Coachella. God dang Billie Joe has aged like a fine wine. Why is he more attractive to me now when he's in his 50s than when I was in high school and he was in his 30s 😂 And how is his hair still that full? I need to know his vitamin regimen.

Holy crap. Gaga at Coachella was insane. I felt that in my bones. I really miss choreographing and performing when I see stuff like that. Incredible. Inspiring. All the applause 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Today course teaching evals came out. Only 1 student filled it out, but whoever it was is my favorite student. They ended their glowing review with "She's amazing. I'd give her a bonus." I hope HR sees it 😂

But seriously, such a nice serotonin boost, especially bc I love teaching so much.

Idk what happened recently with Web Outlook but omg the text prediction is terrible. When I write "I m..." (I was going for "I might") in an email to a research collaborator I do not want to write "I miss you," which Outlook seems to think is the appropriate phrase in a work email thread. #AIFail.

The administration is removing phone support for Soc Security recipients. Making it more difficult for seniors to get their checks. It’s a back door way to cut SS benefits. Horrific.

If you know anyone who is impacted, please help them get online to get their benefits approved

The general vibe we are getting across #NIH institutes is deeply bleak — that the agency is nearly, if not already dead.

Top people are leaving or have left. Nearly everyone's looking for other jobs. People still care about what NIH was, but are growing resigned to its death.

Tell me you’re from the Midwest without telling me you’re from the Midwest: a tornado warning at 5:30pm followed by a snow storm at midnight 😂😂😂😂

Just a peak Midwest March vibes over here 🤣

Love to see it!
Enrollment at our community colleges continues to surge with the largest spring-to-spring enrollment increase ever and third straight year of growth.

They’ve not only bounced back from the pandemic, but they're also stronger than ever thanks to our historic investments.

I was supposed to take today off but my to-do list was insane so I didn't. But bc my calendar had been blocked as OOO, I didn't have any mtgs scheduled. I was super productive bc I could actually sit down and do deep work. This is going to be my new hack: mark a PTO day every week but not take PTO.

Ooo I love free nerdy swag (hardcover book? Yes please! And pens. And stickers for my laptop). Excited for our virtual learning studio symposium at work next week (and to present a poster with a colleague).

A company sent me the wrong dining table and they said they'll send someone to come pick it up to ship it back, but I have to print out a return label. Dude, I'm a millennial. I haven't owned a printer since 2009 when I graduated college and I last ran out of ink. They should print it for me. 😂
