DON'T do it, idiots. It's a scam. You let them in your house and they'll steal your laptops and jewellery. They're wearing masks for crying out loud.

That said, we did a Hallowe'en show in Kendal today and it's genuinely reassuring that @katemccabe.bsky.social's vampire shows up in the mirror photos. (Also argh, loophole, she's 🧛‍♀️definitely🧛‍♀️ been invited into the building if we've booked her for a set.)

Gigged in Cheltenham recently and they told me that, historically, it was a Spa town but it looked more Waitrose-y to me.

Great fun. Grab a coffee and get to it.
Come see my show at Edinburgh Fringe. Its about the seaside, seagulls and c-list celebrities. Its got prizes, a surprisingly earnest bit about the environment and a vaguely satisfying dramatic arc. A comedy best described "surprisingly dark for its time slot." Silly fun. Free entry.

An unrealistic thing about film and TV is that the music levels in pubs/clubs/venues are often such that people can be enjoying a musical ambience but it's still quiet enough that you can still converse at a normal level.
I want that for us in real life.

am hereby nominating The Chordettes' Mr. Sandman as #songofthesummer
Sure it's from 1958...but it's as catchy as Covid, has a beautiful progression, features four boss ladies from Sheboygan, and a primo use of the sax-a-ma-phone. Put it in your ears.

Sometimes a recipe has ***** but then you look at user comments and they're like: This was GREAT. I added oregano, some prawns, used twice as much salt, and fried it instead of baking it. The whole family loved it.
