#NewIllustrationOfTheDay by Luke Pearson from Hilda and Twig Wake the Ice Man. The latest in a graphic novel series that became a Netflix franchise. (Twig is a ‘deerfox’.) Classic cartoon strip with a hint, I think, of Mafalda. Flying Eye 6 Nov. @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social @lukepearson.bsky.social

On #InternationalWomensDay we are celebrating our female protagonists: Girls who can be brave, fierce, gentle, bold, playful, resourceful, curious.

With every book we publish, we hope to inspire young readers, and show them the endless options for what a girl (or woman) can be.

Luke Pearson’s latest Hilda and Twig book is a wee gem. Twig gets centre stage, which is always a delight, and as an early reader it’s a great route into the wider Hilda comics for young readers. Any excuse to hang out in Hilda’s world. 😍 #KidsGN📚💬 #UKKidLit

Another set of non-fiction titles I’d get for every school if I could is Owen Davey’s animal books for @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social. Crazy About Cats is my sons’ favourite but there’s a whole rand and they’re all excellent. I adore Owen Davey’s illustration style too. #NonFictionNovember #UKKidLit

Very pleased Ditching Saskia, a graphic novel by John Moore and Neetols is listed. It’s glorious. And Saskia herself is brilliant, one of those young girl characters who is properly rounded and a right little madam at times. @flyingeyebooks.bsky.social
