some days the weather is beautiful, but the birds are too far away, all you can photograph is a water deer, but, on the upside, you see your first bittern #ukwildlife.

As a woman with a MH disability, I now identify strongly with newts and bats. So, I guess, when I have to give up most of my work because I’m disqualified from PIP, at least I’ll have a hobby

Yes, many of us in the academic fields have to take very good care of ourselves, after reading endless documents filled with derogatory descriptions of our loved ones (& ourselves). It's heartbreaking, damaging, and unnecessary.

Completing a PIP application is one of the most destructive things that people with disabilities have to do. I still have physical symptoms that started due to stress of my PIP transfer 5 years ago. Emily Wooden’s blog is worth a read. ndconnection.co.uk/blog/pip-liv...
Applying for PIP as an Autistic person — Neurodiverse Connection
Emily Wooden shares a frank account of her difficult experience applying for PIP as an Autistic person, and how it forced her to confront some challenging reflections around masking and identity.

Beautiful and powerful art by Kat Hudson here. One challenge of campaigning to stop surveillance on psych wards is creating imagery whilst protecting privacy of victims, it's hard to do. Kat brings this feeling to life here. #StopOxevision
We are so excited to share this animation produced by Kat Hudson on camera based surveillance in psychiatric wards. Surveillance is not safety! Huge thanks to @nsunnews.bsky.social for making this possible

New and important from @thementalelf.bsky.social: "This review has highlighted the critical lack of evidence supporting the use of surveillance technologies. #Oxevision has the potential to enable iatrogenic harm, however this is not being acknowledged". tinyurl.com/3jajvst6 #StopOxevision

Almost all mental health problems and mental illnesses are more common in autistic people than in the general population. This new publication by R . C . Psychiatry is an excellent resource for information and practical matters surrounding autism and mental health www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mental-healt...
Autism and mental health
This resource looks at autism and mental health. It explains what autism is, how it’s diagnosed and what support is available for autistic people.
