Talked to a journo today about our Privacy, Identity and Trust in C2PA report for 1.5 hrs - a testament not only to range of important issues our research covers but to meaningful work conscientious journalists who aren't just looking for a quote actually do. worldprivacyforum.org/media/docume...

"The Gamma type or lifestyle is defined by below average scores on vector 1, and below average scores on vector 2." Gammas "resist the control or advice of others...."

I'm digging into layers upon layers of metrics baked into one trademarked set of psychometric measures.

Going through some newly FOIA's case reports involving Portland police use of drones. In one, a drone possibly operated by another local PD was used to observe fight among drunken roommates. Appears to be part of the "Drones as first responders" pilot.

Dangerous situation? You be the judge:

Thanks for sharing - this "leadership" framing at top of the article is a big part of why the overall conversation is not focused in the most relevant, meaningful ways:

Before today's Mets game, they ran footage of the team singing "You Gotta Have Heart" (9.24.69, Ed Sullivan Show, few days after they clinched the NL E).

Check out Tug McGraw's adorably awful jacket buckle! He coined the '73 phrase "Ya Gotta Believe," btw...

Watching the Mets game (on delay! no spoilers!) and turns out it's ChatGPT night at the ballpark (because Citifield along with every other sports team loves their goofy sponsorships). This is silly but had to post it - an AI-generated image of our beloved Mets broadcast booth as "rock stars."

Been getting lots of bogus job offers via spam texts lately. This one is to help "local businesses grow their digital presence."

$250-500 USD per day, paid the same day? Ha!

Must demonstrate a "strong sense of responsibility"

AND GULLIBILITY!

Lloyd Center mall in Portland (legendary bc Olympian Tonya Harding practiced ice skating there as a kid) has transformed to a hub for small, cool, sometimes downright odd retail & experiences. Consider this shop which sells ambient videos like Original VIDEO HAWAIIAN PIZZA. wolfchoirhomevideo.vhx.tv

You just might wanna ignore those AI search results, folks:

As I conduct research related to Portland's use of drones loaned by Gresham PD for Portland's new Drone as First Resonder program, AI review got most basic fact - the date the program launched, citing reporting to the contrary - WRONG.

The analysis of our report also discusses how C2PA Trust lists could affect small content players:

"...you can drift toward world where content from small or independent actors is functionally penalized for lacking a whitelisted cert"

On C2PA Platform Data Collection the analysis of our report states,
"...platforms may also keep copies server-side for verification or legal holds. That creates a new data lake of provenance logs."

...as for C2PA's "Trust Model"...

C2PA is sometimes misunderstood as a way to detect deepfakes or use of copyrighted content in AI — it doesn’t. And it's WAY more than a content labeling system.

It affects privacy, identity, & how "trustworthiness" of content is interpreted. Get our report:

For our 38-page report, I interviewed people designing the C2PA specs, people building with it & people attacking it to expose vulnerabilities -- including people from the biggest AI and social media platforms.
September 3, 2025 at 2:48 PM
So this is a VERY IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION REGARDING C2PA:

What does a lack of C2PA metadata mean for those who DO NOT WANT TO OPT IN to using it?

What does it mean for how C2PA SIGNALS OF CONTENT/CREATOR TRUSTWORTHINESS are measured or interpreted by others in the growing C2PA data ecosystem?
September 3, 2025 at 2:48 PM
But here's a brief overview:

The C2PA "TRUST MODEL" involves “TRUST LISTS” & validation by “certified” authorities that are used to classify “TRUST SIGNALS” as valid or not. BUT IF THERE IS NO C2PA METADATA FOUND (say camera or design software doesn’t enable it, or metadata stripped), THAT MATTERS!
September 3, 2025 at 2:48 PM
What about C2PA and TRUST?

C2PA is NOT intended to directly determine the trustworthiness of content. BUT it does have a technical “Trust Model.” C2PA metadata is meant to be used as 'signals' for measuring the trustworthiness of content.

For more on the C2PA "TRUST MODEL," read our new report!
