If you’re looking for an Xmas present do try Alexei Navalny’s extraordinary memoir Patriot. The first half is a funny and interesting regular memoir about Russia. The second half - fragments of his prison diaries - is desperately sad but still funny and totally inspirational. Astonishing bravery.
