Firing into the crowd was not reasonable. I hope the organizers have a lot of insurance because using armed volunteers was incredibly stupid. The dead guy’s family should sue them into oblivion.

A jury will decide if carrying a rifle to a protest is reasonable.

I specifically said the volunteer was a dumbass (aka unreasonable). It was also unreasonable to carry a rifle to a crowded protest. Im not licensed in Utah, but in most states “reasonableness” is an issue of fact for a jury, not a bright line test.

The kid with the rifle was open carrying it like a dumbass. It’s visible on the video of the shooting. Armed volunteer immediately opened fire without trying to deescalate like a bunch of dumbass. (How about you tell him to drop it before you start shooting?) Just insanely stupid and tragic

Open carrying at a protest or other large event is EXTREMELY threatening. If you’re carrying a gun in a crowded place like a dumbass, you shouldn’t be surprised if some other dumbass with a weapon starts shootjng at you.
