I feel like going “oh America wasn’t ready for female / black president” is horribly reductive and completely ignores the systemic and material issues which led to a rise in the far right, and as such lets liberals ignore fixing them and just going “oh the right are bigots”

There’s a trend in modern Christmas movies for this idea that goes “omg naughty list is at an all-time high these days”
I don’t think it’s purposefully malicious or anything but it rlly goes hand in hand with the conservative rhetoric of culture right now being particularly decadent and immoral
