One thing I realized is that one of the twins is voiced by Jay Kabira, the brother of Jon Kabira, long time sports commentator that most people will know as the old voice of the PES/Winning Eleven games.

"tekken players" are solely tekken players, that is true everywhere, and it's definitely a more recent development since that did not use to be the case!

EU in general was very tekken-centric until SF4. which is why I hate the whole "dark age of fighting games" narrative, as it's 100% an NA thing and Tekken was pulling a lot of people in the scene then and since (me included!)

the scene in EU is just a lot more fractured than people from outside think because of language barriers and other factors. what's true in one country is not true in others, etc.

nah it's very present in europe as well. for example, I know of multiple countries where the Tekken scenes sort of exist on their own. they still go to the same tournaments as the rest of the scene, but they're clearly more detached than the rest of the games in the scene
