Takahashi would often draw her with completely different coloured hair, so it's always been my headcanon that the colour of the hair of her alien race reflects the light of the current environment. (Not supported by the text. I think Takahashi was just having fun.)

It's been interesting reading Ranma's manga and comparing it to the same scenes in the original anime. The manga more often uses zany poses and expressions compared to the anime, and I wonder how much of that is due to artistic intent or just the cost of animation versus illustration.
