This is one of my all time favorite books, it's just so, so good
At Scientific American, Alan Scherstuhl calls The Dispossessed—which will be released in a 50th anniversary edition next month—"inexhaustibly rich and wise."
Book Review: Fifty years later, Ursula K. Le Guin’s Novel about Utopian Anarchists Is as Relevant as Ever
In The Dispossessed, a physicist is caught between societies

This is what billionaires think of the skilled labor that provides their wealth. Imagine what they think of unskilled labor. You don't have to; it's $7.25/hour
Trump says any child can do the job of US autoworkers assembling Mercedes vehicles because they come in a kit from Germany.

I doubt they're like Lego pieces, and I'm sure Trump couldn't assemble a Lego kit for a Millennium Falcon in a reasonable amount of time.

Whoever is running the Republican Party of Arizona account on X is into some incredibly fringe stuff. They keep reposting an account whose display name matches the title of a book written by a member of the Nazi SS and whose profile picture is dead Waco cult leader David Koresh wearing a MAGA hat.

It's Indigenous Peoples' Day 2024!

Let's talk about the 'Five Moons,' women who broke the color barrier in the world of dance & combined European and Native American dance legacies.

The #comet from my front steps tonight, outside Asheville, NC.

(The iPhone camera enhances the light; for the naked eye, the comet appears here as something of a light-ish smudge in the sky.)

True. Story.

I carefully wash produce in a tub and save all the water for my outdoor plants

They steal water from the city yo water their commercial orchards
True. Story.
I have a 5 gallon bucket in my shower to collect water for a toilet flush. They probably have a shower with 5 shower heads.

When has this country not been an authoritarian hellscape? As more people have gotten rights and freedoms, we're finally seeing the country for what it is, imperfect, but something that can be improved.

Go back? Make America great again? Bullshet.

We're not going back. Forward!
