Time for a change. Let’s hope this place is a breath of fresh air. Starting with a post which was last month’s cover for Black + White Photography magazine.

Nature is under threat - add your voice NOW!

The UK Gov has rejected vital chalk stream protections - a huge step backwards. Using wildlife as a scapegoat won’t fix housing delays.

I’ve just been for a lovely snowy walk from our home on the Yorkshire Wolds. I’ve had this shot in mind for a few years and finally got the conditions to photograph this very fine tree.

Shiretoko, Hokkaido, 2023.

As I discuss in my recent blog post (link in bio), I wanted to create a painterly feel and I’ve taken great inspiration from Hiroshage. Delicately revealing the colours hidden in the landscapes here.

Tree by the Sea - Ravenscar, 2023.

The resilience of this wee tree feels too much for me to put into words right now. But there is most certainly a metaphor for life here. You understand what I’m taking about I’m sure…

Over the weekend, the National Park got its first dusting of snow of the season.

This came just in time for the autumn equinox today, marking the shift into the colder months.

Here's one of our favourite autumnal snow photos to celebrate.

What are you most excited about as the temperatures drop?

No joy tonight but this classic is from 10 years ago! I remember it so vividly. The earth literally stood still. It was such a profound experience.

The North York Moors fire will be devastating to wildlife - thank you to everyone tirelessly tackling the blaze, from the fire service and volunteers to local land managers.

Our countryside is incredibly dry, please:

As part of @wclnews.bsky.social, we’re warning MPs about the loss of nature already being seen in their area 📢

The #PlanningBill as it stands is an application to demolish wildlife even further 🚨

We cannot accept this - it simply must be amended.
