5/ We also conducted transcriptomic analyses on two accessions with contrasting phenotypes (highly susceptible vs. resistant). Comparison with transcriptomic data from Phytophthora palmivora infection revealed a strong overlap and highlighted a set of defense genes conserved with angiosperms.

4/ Using GWAS, we identified putative genomic regions associated with resistance, including a cluster of Microbial Terpene Synthase Like (MTPSL) genes. These genes, acquired through horizontal gene transfer (HGT) were found to be bryophyte-specific.

3/ Our work focused on Colletotrichum nymphaeae, a natural fungal pathogen of M. polymorpha. Infection assays on the collection revealed quantitative resistance, ideal to investigate the genetic basis of immunity.
