This is what happens, every Halloween, for the past dozen or so years. I dress up my husband, who goes to work (he’s the ceo of a community healthcare provider) looking some level of ridiculous so his employees can have a good laugh at his expense which is what all good bosses should do.

Like many fellow GenXers, David Lynch— his unapologetic weirdness, those creepy dreamy images he created, the sounds and music he used — was so important to my early adult identity. John Waters and Lou Reed too. The common thread for me was they all dared you to just be cool with being uncomfortable
