I don’t even know what to do. I don’t know how to fight when those in leadership who are supposedly on our side are doing nothing what are we to do? What can we do? How do we fight? It’s hard not to give into despair.

RIP David Lynch. This one hurts so much. As the many retrospectives of his works will go on, please do not sleep on The Straight Story. Such a beautiful, quiet and heartfelt film, it’s stayed with me for years. And the way he filmed Iowa was incredible.

So cookie making report card. I pulled out the ancient cookie book and my mother’s recipe book. The pages are tattered and delicate but the treasures within are amazing. And the Momm y on the book are from the glorious days of playing with her label maker—I can spell better now.

Ever since I was a little kid I would always look forward to my mother’s Christmas cookies. My mother and her best friend would bake every weekend with unique cookies from the Betty Crocker cookbook. When I got older I started baking with her.
