Right before Thanksgiving, Duffy also offered a helpful solution to the hell of air travel: Dress nicer, you fucking slobs! That’s right. The problem is not airline safety, pricing, or comfort. (What even happened to the investigation into Boeing? I’m sure Sean Duffy told them, “It’s OK, bros, death happens.” And handed them a kazoo on his way out.) No, the problem with airlines is not being upsold every small convenience while you're shoved into tiny seats on flying tin cans owned by giant companies who are extorting you and their own employees. No, it’s that you, a weary traveler, decided to wear sweatpants on your 6 a.m. flight to see your dying grandma because it was the only flight that day that didn’t cost $800 and come with a free punch in the face from TSA. Sean Duffy literally looked at the hellscape of American infrastructure and said, “OK, but what were you wearing?"

So that's the second thing that a president has: Article II, the inherent right of self-defense. If somebody is about ready to launch missiles at the U.S. or launch an attack, the president does have the authority to strike those people. Drug runners do not qualify for that. And I know —drugs kill-and they do. They kill tens of thousands of people. But it is not the intention of the drug runners to kill people. They're selling drugs, and drugs are a major problem in this country. I happen to think it's as much of a demand problem as it is a supply problem-but it is not a direct attack to try and kill Americans or seize territory in America. And it sure as hell isn't that on a boat off the coast of Venezuela that is thousands of miles from the U.S. And that's the other thing-they haven't presented a shred of evidence that those boats were even headed to the United States. Smith: Yeah and also understand the other connection, as you've seen the stories about Trump authorizing CIA action in Venezuela. I have no independent confirmation of that other than what I've read in the media. And as you see the rhetoric from him ramp up about the Maduro regime in Venezuela, is this really about stopping drugs or is he engaged in a regime change effort in Venezuela, which certainly hasn't been approved of by Congress and certainly doesn't fall under the Article II designation. Trump has mused about how now maybe they may bo hitting targets on land within Venezuela. So he is asserting the unilateral right to start a war with Venezuela Smith: I've not been briefed. I don't know if I'd go so far as, I expect war. But if we, as a country, don't stand up and say, no, President Trump, you do not have the unilateral power to override the Constitution and do whatever you want whenever you want whenever you want to do it-Trump's just going to keep expanding. And look, I'll tie a little terrifying connection in for you here. You hear what's going on in Chicago—and it's going on in other cities as well—but in Chicago, most blatantly, they are literally stopping people on the street and demanding their papers. If they don't have them-frequently citizens, legal residents— are being detained by your United States federal government without any probable cause, articulable suspicion, or any measure, just because they showed up and they want to say it. They are violating our rights individually, and then Trump is asserting his right to use the United States military in any way that he sees fit— certainly in the Caribbean, but also right here in the United States of America. He's trying to send them to Portland, trying to send them to Chicago. How far are we away from President Trump deciding to use the U.S. military to do a kinetic strike on people within the U.S. because he sees them as a threat, by whatever definition he wants to throw out there? I want to say-and I know there's a lot of people on the left and in the Democratic Party who are all over this— but I want to say to the rest of you who are not: come on. I mean, you could not like the Democrats, you could not like a bunch of our policies. Hell, you can oppose the Affordable Care Act, you can oppose a bunch of other things. If you are an American conservative, do you want the federal government to be able to have that type of power-to take away your liberty-whether it's Trump or anybody else?

I haven't seen a map of patrols in DC since this one last week from the WaPo. But my fear is that the order to arm the National Guard is a precursor to 1) sending them deeper into Southeast, which gets less media coverage, and 2) giving them a harassing mission in the hopes it will trigger violence.
Where National Guard troops and federal agents are patrolling D.C.
The Post mapped locations of law enforcement throughout D.C. in the days since Trump’s announcement to deploy the Guard.

Against the CDC's MAHA-fied efforts, the @ameracadpeds.bsky.social recommends Covid vaccines for all kids <2 years, kids 2-18 in high-risk groups/households, and kids in any family wanting extra protection against risk.
COVID-19 continues to result in hospitalization and death in the pediatric population. Infants and children 6 through 23 months of age are at the highest risk for severe COVID-19. Given this, the AAP recommends a COVID-19 vaccine for all children ages 6 through 23 months old to help protect against serious illness. Children younger than 2 years old are especially vulnerable to severe COVID-19 and should be prioritized for vaccination unless they have a known allergy to the vaccine or its ingredients. In addition to the recommendation for all children younger than 2 years, the AAP recommends a single dose of age-appropriate COVID-19 vaccine for all children and adolescents 2 through 18 years of age in the following risk groups : Persons at high risk of severe COVID-19 Residents of long-term care facilities or other congregate settings Persons who have never been vaccinated against COVID-19 Persons whose household contacts are at high risk for severe COVID-19 The AAP also recommends the vaccine be available for children ages 2-18 who do not fall into these risk groups, but whose parent or guardian desires them to have the protection of the vaccine. The most updated version of the COVID-19 vaccine that is available should be used. The Academy’s recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines are published online here and will be published in the November issue of Pediatrics (online Aug. 19). “We extensively reviewed the most recently available data about COVID-19 risks in kids, as well as safety and effectiveness of available COVID-19 vaccines. It's clear they are very safe for all populations. Among the reasons we decided to move to a risk-based recommendation for healthy older children is the fact that the hospitalization rate for young children and children with underlying medical conditions remains high, in line with rates for many of the other vaccine-preventable diseases for which we vaccinate,” said Sean O’Leary, MD, FAAP, chair of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases.

Trump keeps saying he wants to fire the fed chair because he won’t lower interest rates, the he gets job numbers that give the Fed cause to do so and he fires the person in charge of those numbers. The only consistency is his furious unreality and commitment to destroying all trust in institutions.
