It's not replacing cognition at all.
It's a pattern replication machine that has difficulty problem solving beyond a grade 9 level. It's confidently wrong and hyper validating to make people fall in love with it leading to mass psychosis. It's also getting worse over time.

The plow, the steam engine, electricity — all replaced muscle. AI replaces cognition. If you spend your day “reading lots of stuff and turning it into straight English,” well… so does the machine. The goal now is to learn from history and cushion the blow better than last time.
