The Chief of Police in Minneapolis says their department won't help ICE and is telling residents to report ICE abductions to the police as kidnappings.

If you're from Minneapolis, you should be proud to have that kind of leadership.

To hell with the domestic terrorists known as ICE. 🖕🧊

Cooking: I made Claudia Roden's 'Egyptian Red Lentil Soup'. Very hearty on a chilly, rainy day. Served with olive bread.

Ran for about an hour earlier and stretched, working out most of the kinks from yesterday. Bruised ribs feel a little better but right groin/glute thingy still sore.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

The photo, taken in the years before the Twins arrived, looks north at farm fields surrounding a small circular plot, upon which is a baseball field with triple-decked cantilever seating running from first to third base and bleachers along the foul lines. The scoreboard stands alone in right-center.
