Great score! We had one of these when I was in high school (except silver); what an absolute hoot to drive, the dictionary definition of cheap and cheerful

A new one of these bad boys (barely) fits entirely inside a 3rd gen Mazda3 sedan if you don’t mind a couple of trim clips popping out. (Just get it delivered with the couch and bed frame next time, dummy)

I didn’t have enough characters in the post to explain that fun means, like, I like these, but I recognize the flaws that make me not defend them from criticism 🤣🤣🤣

Jo Guldi’s Roads to Power is a great read on British infrastructure! Not entirely a social history per se, but her general argument here explains a lot of the “how/why” Britain was the way it was

Todd was one of those tentpole musicians in my family; my dad and I went and saw him play every few years. Don’t think we’ve ever laughed as hard as seeing him and Elizabeth Cook together at the Heights Theater in Houston. ☹️

If you don’t care about fancy materials or badge, I really don’t think there’s anything as solidly made; they’re not cheap, but driving it back to back with their 23’ CRV it’s no contest.
Reminds me of early 2000s Volvos.

*ok, to clarify, cheapest Limited (which is somehow the middle trim? Jesus, Toyota)

$37k~, 2000~ miles, gold CPO warranty: which was about 10k less than new and included the “tech” package, so 13k (ish) savings. Dealer in Denver (Stevenson) was excellent, in and out in 45 minutes, no add ons!

Yep, though it was probably as much prediction as advice: I told my dad that if he tested a Crown, nothing else would match up in terms of uniqueness per dollar: cut to 2 months later and we’re flying to Denver to pick up the cheapest CPO Crown in the country…
