While em-dashes are diagnostically unreliable, it undermines the legitimacy of real writing/scholarship. And when real can't be discriminated from false, the false can thrive.

I don't doubt this—but it does bug me that em-dashes are used as a heuristic to spot LLM-generated text.

I love that Amazon could watch Epic having their store in the launcher for the most popular game in the world, literally giving games away for free, and still not being able to challenge Steam, but they still went: "if we build it, they will come"
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
