I know precisely one of these systems, but love learning new systems and am big on storytelling. This is great and I can't wait to see what all comes of this.

I mean, okay then. I cannot disagree more to that outlook, but you do you I guess. You're still being very vague about what happened, so I don't think we'd reach any sort of consensus either way.

The setting I'd crafted had it's issues as well, though I was taking steps to bridge that gap, as it was an issue of my own making. Hard to have people's stories tie in when they're dimension hopping as a core mechanic, but I just made the antagonists of their arcs also dimension hoppers.

I can't agree more. Had a campaign become a 2 player show because they were the only ones that wanted to interact with the world or the story. Wasn't exactly intentional, but with 0 input from the other players I didn't really know how to draw them in appropriately.

For clarity's sake, both receiving the product for free and if one has been paid for a review should be freely disclosed. There's a lot of disingenuous stuff around that sort of corporate extortionist behavior.

# of hours played? Absolutely. Verified purchase? Eh... That could be misused or misinterpreted to mean that getting something for free from the company is somehow a less valid option. It should still be disclosed, so the review can be appropriately taken with a grain of salt, but not disqualified.

What you've described has been very vague and nonspecific, so I'm only going off what you've presented. It sounds to me like someone may have copy pasted their stuff straight from AI, which would also bother me, and from the last reply I assume you mean that's what they did.
October 30, 2024 at 5:05 PM
I mean, that's not the usage I described, but okay. Looking at a story crafted by AI and taking that idea and morphing it into one's own is no different than reading a book and morphing that setting to fit your game. Inspiration isn't the same as straight generating things from AI.

That being said, you're entitled to your opinion and if they explicitly agreed to not use it in any regard then that's on them.

I'm just unsure how my example of using it for ideas for story is violating the agreement. If they copy paste word for word, sure. But just using it to have ideas that you then extrapolate on isn't the same IMO. Writer's block happens and having that tool to get some ideas is an okay use IMO.

Are you a player, or the GM? And also, in what context is it being used for? Getting ideas for a character is wildly different than asking the bot for a puzzle answer.

Like, these same people are totally chill with a literal Iron Man subclass on the mechanical engineer class, but talk about a wheelchair and suddenly it's all "BuT mY iMmErSiOn"

I'm so beyond tired of the mindless gatekeeping of such a rich and diverse hobby. Just because someone's pea brain can't comprehend cool options for those that need them, doesn't mean a world would be bereft of them entirely. People with that opinion need to do better.

I definitely think people's characters can be idiots. I reserve the thought of the players being idiots until they say something heinous.

It's really nice that they have both video and audio only versions, as well. Not to say it's unique to them, but it really opens up how you can enjoy the show while doing other things. I'm also a little partial to the editing they do with their stuff. Cuts out a lot of dead air and/or cross-talk

As far as immortal beings are concerned, I think that relies heavily on the scope of their purview. Are they a god of deception? Obviously they can sniff out a lie pretty easily. Does the Fae collect a certain type of person or personality? They may be better at seeing those qualities.

- tempered by GM discretion and knowing how that player roleplays to begin with. Additionally, I'm not necessarily sure all abilities would be common knowledge, at least generally speaking. Maybe among fellow adventurers, but even then I don't know if they'd know them all by heart or on sight.
