by being a democratic party strategist he has an outsized impact on the policy of the state. he (indirectly) has a greater individual impact on how the state uses violence than many. im not arguing for stratocracy or w/e but these ppl forget that every decision they make is underpinned by violence

whether you like it or not as a political actor your actions manifest in violence. that's what politics is, a precursor to violence. im reminded of this quote, in ancient greece when they voted for war, every upheld hand a spear. behind every vote is a threat of violence to uphold that decision.

i think what you said about how these people see real life as just a story because they've been too sheltered to experience what it's like. i think patlabor 2's message (lol) ties into this perfectly. people forget that the life they live is predicated on violence whether political or economically.

"murdering a murderer is wrong" what do you think the state does exactly? what do you think the military does exactly? what do you the people should do exactly?

this is just a manifestation of the prevalent idea that any violence not perpetrated by the liberal democratic state is utterly wrong and immoral and that the only morally correct and supportable perpetrators of violence are those of western states one supports.
