No one should celebrate murder or assassinations, but we should be allowed to ask what it was about their message that led to that level of hurt or fear. There is irony in a man championed for "free speech" being used as a tool to silence the speech of others.

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.

“Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun...and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate and systematical plan of reducing us to slavery (1774).” #ThomasJefferson #IndependenceDay

A lot of people are upset or hurting today, and the anger and distress are justified.

In the midst of chaos lies opportunity.

What will the Church do to serve the helpless and most vulnerable? This is where we show what faith in action looks like - nothing like those "believers" in Congress.

I think the world would be a much happier place if more time was spent with children. I regularly find myself wondering what I would do if my toddler wasn't consistently reminding our family what's important in life.

I wanted to share a slightly relevant point from today's Pray as You Go reflection on today's gospel.

"Let us discern whether the anger we experience is taking us towards the Kingdom of God, or in a very different direction."

My heart and prayers go out to the victims of today's violence in Colorado.

Peace for the people of Palestine will not come from hate here at home.

If believers live in an environment that does not encourage creativity, initiative, courage, and adventure, the pursuit of "the abundant life" (John 10:10) becomes more difficult.

There is just zero change or nuance in the man after all of these years. No growth, no acceptance of reality...the same hand gestures and deflection are all there.

In an era that looked as if it might be defined by an American man of depraved cruelty, corruption & shame, what a magnificent thing the Catholic Church has done. The elevation of an American man of goodness, grace, humility, mercy & faith to the Throne of St. Peter is moving & momentous for us all.

He is love, and even in our imperfection, He loves us. And the Jesus I've come to know is someone who loves stories. I love that we have that in common and that He helps me write my own story each morning I wake up.
How have you come to know Jesus over the years?

The man is efficient, you've got to give him that at least.

Many of the same American Catholics who complain that we are under persecution at the hands of "woke" secular powers are now silent or even chuckling along as the president makes a mockery of the death of the pope and the coming conclave.

Tell me you know nothing about Christ and His church without telling me you don't know Him or his church.

If anyone is looking for aids to help you on your faith walk, the Laudate and Pray As You Go Apps are fantastic and have helped me on my faith journey this year. There's too much negativity on this app and in our every day to not be intentional about filling our cup with His message.

We need the best educated workforce in the world.

We need the best teachers in the world.

We need to pay our teachers fairly for the important work they do.

No teacher in America should begin at less than $60,000 a year.
