Ah Thanksgiving Eve. The time where you reach into the spice cupboard and say “wait, this cinnamon is 20 years old. Maybe I should not use it”

“She explained how much Covid could hurt her & how vulnerable it felt to be unable to wear a mask to protect herself.

She was a perfect example of why other people need to wear masks even if they don’t personally think Covid will hurt them”

If you want to honour Alice Wong’s memory, please mask up
Thank You Alice Wong
Alice Wong has passed away and the disability community has lost a leader. I lost a mentor and a friend. The Disabled Ginger wouldn't exist without Alice and everything she taught me.

Four things I would change about this post: I’d use identity first language, I would have said relentless advocate for disability justice instead of disability rights, I would describe her as Asian in the alt text, and she didn’t have muscular dystrophy
Alice Wong, a writer and activist who was born with muscular dystrophy and who fought relentlessly for equal rights and access for people with disabilities, died on Friday. She was 51. nyti.ms/4r9WqEr

Alice Wong. i could literally teach an entire semester of philosophy of technology & disability through a lens of just her. You should all go spend time with her work. Her essays, podcasts, TV appearances, books, all of it; it is all so good.

Good night Alice. Rest in power, pending justice & peace

Losing Alice feels like the ground shifting beneath us—I'm devastated—but to have known & shared even part of this life with her was an honor. She was one of the most fearless, generous & visionary disability activists. It’s impossible to measure how much she shifted the world—I feel it everywhere.

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

When tyrants tremble in their fear
And hear their death knell ringing,
When friends rejoice both far and near
How can I keep from singing?

In prison cell and dungeon vile
Our thoughts to them are winging,
When friends by shame are undefiled
How can I keep from singing?

Talked to a poor pharmacy tech today who told me she’s been getting yelled at by customers.

C’mon people. It’s not her fault.
Frustrated about the difficulty in getting a COVID19 shot and wondering who to blame?

It’s not healthcare workers, pharmacies, public health or Big Pharma.

It is Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. and every Republican Senator who voted to confirm him, especially Bill Cassidy.
