I think ppl do know that it’s a dogwhistle but there’s some fundamental disconnect where they believe that their use of the term differs from how a fascist would use it. They think that as long as everyone in the room is a lefty then it’s fine to classify art into ‘pure & moral’ and ‘degenerate’.
