We agree. Unfortunately, in the North - where those are frequent, not just of single household homes, but also once tackled a leisure centre where the same displaced people had been housed - none of those charges ever appeared. Nothing but arson was held against the suspects by PPS.

If we argued for a hierarchy of violence from riots and broken windows to murder, we have already been on the far end of the scale for too long. This has yet to trigger any terrorism protocols, despite clearly fitting the criteria. Unclear if leadership is waiting for someone to inevitably die.

This is the reality in Ireland since 2023: the far right is not so much institutionally present and influencing legislation directly as much as it is committing acts of grave violence motivated by hate, which in turn makes national politics reluctant to say no. A man was even tortured in Dublin.
