Please take a look at the outcomes in the following two blogs, which I wrote throughout the process of developing and implementing a solution for a Research Data Management workflow.

● I will produce estimates that are honest both in magnitude and precision. I will not make promises without certainty.

● I will never stop learning and improving my craft.

● I will do all that I can to keep the productivity of myself, and others, as high as possible. I will do nothing that decreases that productivity.

● I will continuously ensure that others can cover for me, and that I can cover for them.
June 23, 2025 at 8:48 AM
● I will make frequent, small, releases so that I do not impede the progress of others.

● I will fearlessly and relentlessly improve my creations at every opportunity. I will never degrade them.
June 23, 2025 at 8:48 AM
● The code that I produce will always be my best work. I will not knowingly allow code that is defective either in behavior or structure to accumulate.

● I will produce, with each release, a quick, sure, and repeatable proof that every element of the code works as it should.

Here is The #Programmer's #Oath for your quick reference:

In order to defend and preserve the honor of the profession of computer programmers, I promise that, to the best of my ability and judgement:

● I will not produce harmful code.

I have kept the card in my treasured bag of swags and go back to it every now and then! 🗃

I wonder if I should take a look at it every time before starting a new project that involves computer technology. 🤔

What are your thoughts? Which is your favourite promise?
June 23, 2025 at 8:46 AM
The swags contained this particular card titled '𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐎𝐚𝐭𝐡' from @deepsource.com.

I must say - at first the card immediately reminded me of '𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐎𝐚𝐭𝐡' generally taken by the people in the medical profession. 😁

P.S.: @catherineinglis.bsky.social, I loved the idea of '𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 + 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐧𝐬' and the lunch in the bright sunshine of Edinburgh! @npch.bsky.social, everytime I see a mention of unicorn now, I recall that it is the national animal of Scotland 🦄 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ☺️.

Thank you so much @npch.bsky.social for the invitation and @catherineinglis.bsky.social for the meticulous planning and making the visit so comfortable for me. Enjoying lunch on the University of Edinburgh campus on a sunny day was the best part of it! 🥪🥐🧃!
