PhD candidate in DeWoody Lab, Purdue University studying conservation genomics and molecular ecology. Broadly interested in how adaptation shapes biodiversity under climate change using bioinformatics, statistics, and GIS.
I’m honored to be selected as one of 28 graduate student awardees of the Korean Honor Scholarship, supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea.

Among a talented community of Korean graduate students in the U.S., this recognition is truly humbling. Proud to represent Purdue abroad!

This award-winning study:
📌Proposes a new criterion based on GD
📌Presents GD among 82 mammalian species
📌Outlines an analytical framework for conservationists

Time to harness genomic data for conservation! 🧬🐅

Once again, congratulations, @jy-jeon.bsky.social!

Their study analyzed 82 mammalian datasets & found that GD reflects & predicts IUCN Red List status. The study reveals that key GD metrics, like Watterson’s Theta and autozygosity, are predictive of Red List categories. 🦏🦇

This year winner's research explores how genetic diversity (GD) could help improve IUCN Red List rankings 🧬🌍 This is relevant because conservation assessments often rely on census size & demographic trends, but these are hard to estimate for many species
